Greg Allen on the beach
Greg Allen
   Greg Allen is a founding member of The Sprocket Guild. He is both an assistant professor at Point Park University in their Cinema and Digital department, where he teaches American Cinema History and International Cinema History; and a film instructor at the University of Pittsburgh, where he teaches Intro to Film. Currently, he is working toward his Ph.D. in Critical Studies with a film and religion emphasis. His dissertation entitled, “The Word Made Flesh vs. The Word Made Cinematic” is invested both in reconsidering auteur theory and challenging the representation of Jesus in cinema. He is both a film critic and a Bible scholar, and some of his work can be viewed at www.areyoufishing.org and www.fulvuedrive-in.com. For more information about his films, please visit other parts of this site. His favorite films are The Godfather, The Empire Strikes Back, and Ben-Hur. While his favorite directors are Steven Spielberg, M. Night Shyamalan, and Jean-Luc Godard. He has recently completed shooting The Fandom Meant Us, a student film about student filmmaking in America and the Star Wars fanbase that it ultmately produced.
Daisy Gade
Daisy Jade Loney
   Co-founder Daisy Gade Loney graduated in April of 2002 from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Theatre Arts and a certificate in Film Studies. While in Pittsburgh, she had been casted in several theatrical shows and local/national commercials and films (some of which are Sprocket Guild productions). She also interned at The Talent Group Agency and upon graduating, she worked as Shoot Production Coordinator for New Perspective Productions. In 2003, she moved to Virginia Beach, VA and was married to her best friend and love of her life, James Loney. She has freelanced for New Dominion Pictures (producers of FBI Files and New Detectives on the Discovery Channel) as an actress and PA, along with other local commercial work. While in Atlanta, she worked on various film projects such as Stomp The Yard, We are Marshall, and One Missed Call. She also worked as a personal assistant to Tyler Perry during the filmming of Why Did I Get Married, Meet the Browns, and TBS' House of Payne. Recently, they have returned to Virginia Beach and is still pursuing her passion of acting, dancing, and singing through various projects. She is also working as a Pampered Chef(R) consultant, selling quality kitchen products and demonstrating delicious recipes in people's homes. Her favorite movies are of the romantic comedy and dance genre, and she longs for work on Broadway someday.

Cathy Dortch
   Cathy Dortch, co-founder of The Sprocket Guild, graduated in August of 2002 with a degree in Communication and Rhetoric. While at Pitt, Cathy acted in several student films and helped read through the screenplay of one of the first Sprocket Guild productions, Masters of the Game. She interned at THE TALENT GROUP, a local casting agency, and at NIVLEK ENTERTAINMENT™, a Western PA facilitator of interactive entertainment (Live DJ's, Karaoke, Live Band, Sound, and Lighting). Cathy also played bass guitar in a Christian Alternative Blues Band. She currently works at Aloca Inc. as a Transportation Contract Publisher and has most recently worked on a commercial for the ELUMIN-X keyboard.
Kyle Warren
Kyle Warren
   Kyle Warren is the current president of the Sprocket Guild, and has been since 2006. He is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh and is majoring in English Writing, with a Film Studies minor. He grew up on a farm in Furlong, PA, about an hour outside of Philadelphia, so living in Pittsburgh was a major change in lifestyle. Kyle has been interested in making films since he saw Fight Club and was greatly inspired by Garden State as well. His favorite director is Wes Anderson, and his favorite films include Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and Cool Hand Luke.

Jason Dunbar
   Jason Dunbar graduated in May 2005 from the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Political Science. He first met Greg Allen in Coach Law’s Co-Ed Recreational Basketball class. He began his career with The Sprocket Guild as a grip and assistant on After Dark. This experience gave him an intimate understanding of both the strengths and weaknesses of the group at the time (see After Dark production info). The following term he became the group’s Business Manager. The following school year he became the group’s President, where he implemented one of the most ambitious plans of production yet for the organization. It was Jason who inspired Greg Allen to make “The Fandom Meant Us” in an attempt to compliment Alex Mosby’s “I Ball” with yet another 24p project. He also produced Michael Dickson’s “Misfortune” which premiered at the New York Film Festival. Jason states that he really enjoyed his time producing with The Sprocket Guild and was proud to have enabled students to have the opportunity to direct their own movies. Presently, Jason is studying for his JD at Villanova University School of Law. He hopes to have a career in Contract Law. His favorite movies are Stephen Soderbergh’s Out of Sight, Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane, and he has a sentimental spot for John Singleton’s Boyz ‘N the Hood.

Josh Birt
   Before going to Pitt, Josh Birt was a junior college wrestling National Champion. At Pitt he wrestled for 2 and ½ years and was an EWL Champion and NCAA Qualifier. His love for such movies as Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, and The Godfather motivated him to major in Film Studies at the University of Pittsburgh where he got special permission to take Greg Allen’s Intro to Film course. Noting his interest in production, Greg invited Josh to shoot behind-the-scenes footage for Masters of the Game Part IV that Fall. Josh would graduate in May of 2005. He worked as The Sprocket Guild’s Business Manager for two years. In his last year of school, he began his first internship in freelance video production for NPV Productions. In the summer of 2005, through his association with The Sprocket Guild, Josh was afforded a paid internship with producers Marty Lazzaro and Ken Brown on Bruno Sammartino: Behind the Championship Belt where he worked as an editor and videographer. Skilled in both Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, Josh now works full-time as an assistant producer for ATN Integrated Media.

Mary Jane Rabier
   Mary Jane Rabier grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Schenley High School. She is in her second year at Pitt and majors in Accounting. She is also working for minors in Economics and French. Currently, she is the Business Manager of the Sprocket Guild and hopes to become heavily involved with the many different aspects of film making.
Alexander Mosby
Alexander Mosby
   Former president of the Sprocket Guild from 2005-2006, Alexander Mosby is firmly entrenched within the new breed of digital filmmakers in Pittsburgh. Alex wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the acclaimed film "I Ball". Though his hand was in every aspect of "I Ball", Alex's love is acting first and foremost. As of now an unfinished work, Alex has the potential to be spoken of in the same breath of Hollywood's elite and is currently working as an intern for Nancy Mosser Casting.
Cary Hill
Cary Hill
   Cary Hill is currently a full-time film student at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently the president of The Sprocket Guild and also works with other Pitt media groups, including Creation Station and Panther Sports Network. He draws influence from comic books, Hong Kong cinema, horror flicks, and books on a variety of subjects, and grew up watching The Twilight Zone and 50's sci-fi movies. Originally an English writing major, Cary changed gears his sophomore year to study film and history. His goals include writing and directing and hopefully expanding his aptly-named 'horror-noir' genre. His favorite films include Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Matrix, Halloween, and Hard Boiled. His favorite, most-influential filmmakers include Sam Raimi, John Carpenter, and Ridley Scott.

   Joe Feaster currently is a full-time student at the University of Pittsburgh, double-majoring in Film and Communications. He is Vice-President of The Sprocket Guild and besides watching movies, enjoys playing video games, reading, and electronics. He eventually wants to get more involved in movie producing and writing stories. He is interested in action-sci-fi films, and his favorite movies are The Matrix and Conan the Barbarian. His favorite directors are Stanley Kubrick and Luc Besson, while his favorite producer is Joel Silver. His favorite writers are the Wachovski Brothers.

    Thomas Watkiss is a finishing student at the University of Pittsburgh graduating with a double major in Studio Art and History of Art & Architecture. He is an exhibiting painter, starring as Merrick in the Cary Hill production, "After Dark" and the current promotions manager of The Sprocket Guild. As an artist, he understands the importance of promotion and visual communication which attracted him to the position with The Sprocket Guild. Thomas plans to pursue an MFA in Northern Europe as well as continue with independent acting.

Bethany Burchick
   Bethany Burchick is a graduating senior this April, as a triple major in Political Science, History and Film, she will also be getting her certificate in Russian and East European Studies. She has been working with the Sprocket Guild as the Business Manager for the past year, and has also helped with productions as the costume designer and as an actress. Unfortunately, in September she will be moving to Santa Monica, California were she hopes to pursue filmmaking, and hopefully will be able to direct some of her own work.

   Jason Georgiades, 21, is almost graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelors degree in Studio Arts. He got involved with film by buying his own video camera, meeting a camera man online and making whatever he felt like. Jason also works as a freelance editor and enjoys mountain climbing, base jumping and anything extreme. Jason is currently finishing up his most recent collaborative work, "The Steal Phantom", with freelance artist and entrepreneur Trevar Cushing.

   Trevar Cushing, 24, is originally from Punxsutawney, PA and two years ago, he graduated from Pitt with a useless degree in Film Studies. In between jumping from part-time job to part-time job, he managed to become the cameraman for "The Steal Phantom". Trevar has been shooting and editing video for 5 years, a skill which he honed at Pittsburgh Filmmakers and definitely not from wasting time in class at Pitt. Mr. Cushing recently become a contributing photographer for Mr. Smalls and to the local Pittsburgh skateboarding scene. He enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, and making something out of nothing. Trevar is greatful to be a part of "The Steal Phantom" because the film shows you can make something amazing all by yourself and with no money.
